It’s incredibly easy in today’s world to spend forever connected, working throughout the weekend. I for one, have been completely guilty of that and before long you start to suffer with burn out. I recently made a pledge to myself to ensure that I indulge in activities that I really enjoy each weekend. Of course I still check email, but there’s something lovely about putting yourself first when making plans for the weekend.
With the long weekend upon us, I’ve taken today to chill and it’s been… blissful. After a visit from my Sister, I took myself out, grabbing a coffee before browsing the thrift stores. Something that I’ve never done before, I took a look for some bits around the house and for styling my food photography. It was surprisingly enjoyable and cost less than a tenner. I’ll be sharing my finds soon.
Anybody that knows me will tell you that I’m a pretty girly girl. Therefore the cottage is scattered with pretty candles. I did warn you I was girly. So many people save their candles for special occasions for for when my boyfriend is home, but there’s something really self indulgent about lighting the candles, pouring a freshly ground coffee and grabbing your favourite book on the sofa.
At the moment, I’m reading Miracles Now by Gabrielle Bernstein which I’m loving so far. It’s so easy to always put other people first, but we often forget to take good care of ourselves and her book focuses on positivity and serendipity, which I adore.
What would your perfect Saturday consist of and how often do you make time to do the things you love?
