White Cotton Peonies

After finally being struck by the flu that everyone’s been talking about but that I was secretly smug to have avoided, the inevitable happened this week. There were tears, tantrums and questions asked about whether I was dying, but I was assured that it would pass.

It came as a lovely surprise then, when the lovely team at Fragrance Direct got in touch, offering to send me some Valentines treats to enjoy. I’ve not really done makeup posts on the blog before (so apologies if they’re not super good) but I am a massive fan of skincare and cosmetics and jumped at the chance to be involved.

A couple of days later a big parcel arrived at the door and I managed to scare the cats, frantically pulling at the tape. I opened the box to find the cutest selection of goodies including Bobbi Brown Blush (my fave), Calvin Klein lipsticks, Essie Nail varnishes, Coloursport Eyes & Brow kit, W7 Hide It Concealer, a Shining Star Shimmer Brick, loads of smellies from Givenchy and Carolina Herrera as well as some cute chocolates and love hearts. Valentines was well and truly on!

This year I’m spending Valentines with my bestie Fran on a girl date as both of the boys are away, so it’s likely that we’ll do something low key in the day – maybe some cocktails and a bite to eat, so I thought that I’d share with you my daytime look….

Firstly let me apologise for the red tint that appears to have developed in my hair – it’s actually chocolate brown but I think the lighting/lens has skewed things slightly. Anyway…. I started my look with a sheer application of Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturising Treatment Foundation.

Much over plucking and boredom in my younger years has left me forever resenting my eyebrows. So first up is the application of powder to my brows. Here I used Coloursport Eyes & Brow kit. The powder is rich and thick and easy to apply. WIN. I use this as an opportunity to lift the brow, highlighted with the W7 Hide It Concealer to open up the eye.

Brows applied (hoorah!), next up is the eye flick. I like a nude, natural eye with a statement eye liner and more of a pop of colour on the lip. Here I draw out the flick from the corner of the eye before connecting it up with the line over the eye.

Outline applied, I fill this with eye liner to complete the cats eye. I prefer to use liquid liner as I find this easier to use and I choose to use Rimmel Liquid Eye Liner for this – it does the job perfectly.

Eyes popped, I applied some Famous Shining Star Shimmer Brick over the top of my foundation and eyes to give my skin a glow.

This is completed by the application of Bobbi Brown Blusher in Blush on the apples of my cheeks, dragging it up my cheekbones towards my temples.

Last up is the application of some Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick in Delightful.

My scent of choice is 212 VIP by Carolina Herrera, soft, fruity and feminine but still with a bit of a punch. Perfect if you’re planning the day-night date.

Voila! I’m ready for a girl date Valentines. What’s your Valentines look? M xox
