I love women. Not like that. But, I love them. I think we’re bloody awesome creatures who have a grittiness & determination to never give up. We might look small & dainty, but inside we’re ferocious. We can multi-task like Mo-Fo’s not to mention childbirth… anyway, I digress.
With it being International Women’s Day, I got to thinking about some of the women who have inspired & supported me over the past year. Of course, friends & family are top of the list, but surprisingly just after that come some amazing, unexpected friendships that I’ve formed with a number of mummy bloggers.
I’m not going to lie, even though I work in the business of bloggers, mummy bloggers always scared me somewhat. Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t keep me awake at night, but having worked closely with big brands for years I knew the power they held… and let’s face it, that’s scary.
However, since discovering that I’m pregnant, I totally get it. Their words of wisdom, reading their experience, chatting with them about similar experiences has been invaluable. I’ve made friendships that I know will spill offline for years to come. If they say something really helped them, OF COURSE I’m going to give it a go.
There are so many bloggers that I now regularly follow, but these ladies in particular have been an amazing support:
Enchanted Pixie – as a mum, but fellow warrior of ED, Polly has been nothing but an inspiration to me. Her blog contains a cool mixture of lifestyle, mum & personal style – which is always too cool for school, no school gate florals here!
Heels & Hooves – Katie has been blessed to be born with Lottie, who is such a little angel. As a first time mum, it’s been great to share experiences and to hear her tales as Lottie gets bigger.
This Mama Life – Sara has potentially one of the best dressed kids in the UK! There’s a nice mixture of lifestyle thrown in, to remind you that you are after all human and not just a baby machine.
The Mini Post – Possibly one of my biggest crushes at the moment. I met Orlagh at a Babbycino press event through one of my other blogging crushes Aspiring Kennedy and I just love her eye for design. I secretly want to be her.
Tin Box Traveller – Claire has a serious case of wanderlust and so it’s obvious why I like her. She’s great proof that having a baby doesn’t mean your life has to grind to a halt. I aspire to stay on the move, just like her.
Mummy & The Beasties – Hannah is the real life version of Super Woman! Hands full with a toddler & a newborn, she still finds time for amusing and relatable posts. Well worth a read.
Bell’s Little One – Three boys. One girl. The strapline says it all, she’s got her hands full. She talks about the reality of motherhood, that’s not all roses & light, which is massively refreshing and reassuring.
Raising The Rings – Honesty. The reason I completely love Jade. She writes what so many other women are thinking but so often don’t write. I could read her blog all day long. Plus she emails me when her little one is being a ‘git’, I know I’m totally going to be like her as a mum!
Tigerlilly Quinn – I know I’ve probably talked a lot about Fritha in the past… but her blog is filled with colour & personality. She gives you little insights into her day… and let’s face it, sometimes it’s just fun to be nosy.
UPDATE: I forgot one of my absolute fave blogging babes – Jess from Lilypod & Sweetpea. She loves Selfish Mother almost as much as me and is the master of a top knot. Despite being a busy mama, she always looks hot and her Insta’s to die for! Sorry Jess, consider it baby brain….
So, this International Women’s Day goes out to you girls. Thanks for doing more than you know!
