White Cotton Peonies

Introducing Arabella Sofia…

After almost a month, I thought that it was about time I eventually introduced the newest addition to our family. Arabella Sofia Kentish was born on 9th June 2016 at 10.08am weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce and is perfect in every single way.

On that Thursday morning, as soon as our little lady was placed in our arms, we knew that our worlds would never be the same again. A hole has been filled that we never knew existed and we’ve never felt more content… or tired.

Things didn’t go exactly to plan… I’d imagined a serene water birth where the baby would slip out with one simple push and some calm breathing. Replace the calm breathing with much cursing and the water birth with an emergency c-section and you’ll start to get the picture. But more on that in a separate post…

Since the birth, things have been going really well. Bells is starting to sleep for more than an hour, (which is always good!) and I’ve been blessed with her taking to being breastfed really well. Within the first 5 days she managed not to lose any weight and has continued to put on weight at a steady rate ever since.

You might remember THIS LIST which contained the self-imposed rules that I made before her arrival. You’ll be super happy to hear that most of these rules were broken within the first hour or so. Oh, the irony.

There’s so much more to say and I can’t wait to have the time to share more. For now, I’ve got milking duties to get on with… Did someone mention udders?

Much love, M xox

Oh Mel I’m so sorry the birth didn’t go to plan but you are doing so amazingly and well done on the breastfeeding! I just looked at your list and wondering which you’ve broken ? I’m guessing bed sharing? I’m hoping not the drinking breastmilk part haha! X

Thanks Fritha and apologies for the slack response! I’ve broken so many of the rules… nose picking probably being the worst. I’ve definitely not tried the breast milk… although I did walk into the kitchen to find Dickie looking all sheepish 😀 Hope that you’ve had an awesome time in Italy, we’re off there in September, so I’ll be tapping you up for recommendations xx

Huge congratulations what a beautiful little dote. I’m glad that you have settled into your new life. Having a new born is hard work but every minute is equally rewarding. Enjoy every second it’s the hardest job you will ever do but so worth it. They grow quickly Lucy x
